JetCard Welcome Pack

JetCard by Air Partner is ranked as Europe's most flexible jet card programme. A seamless private jet membership programme with fixed hourly rates, guaranteed availability and global reach with as few as 24 hours notice. This is the exquisitely produced welcome pack provided to new members of this exclusive club - people who can legitimately be described as the 'jet-set'.

The welcome pack is a solid 'casebound' folder using our Flaxprint, Litho Printable bookcloth, which is digitally printed with a CMYK image and is also hot foil blocked in copper foil. Size is 230x350mm with a depth of 35mm.

When the folder is opened (see below pic) there is a book and an insert tray on the right hand side.

The book is held in place by the back cover inserted into a internal sleeve fixed on the box as I hope you can see in the image below...

The side tray, which is black foam infill tray, topped with a black Flockage covering. Inserted is a beautiful Smythson luggage tag and a metal membership card made from solid copper.

The book itself is 216mm square and is a 'casebound' hard cover using our Flaxprint, Litho Printable bookcloth, which is digitally printed with a CMYK image and is also hot foil blocked in copper foil (Foilco Ref: 6734).

As stated, both the box and book cover is printed on a very unusual product called Flaxprint. It is a genuine bookcloth which is litho printable, however in this instance it has been successfully digitally printed (for the first time that I'm aware of) using a dry toner, Ricoh C901 digital press. Like all bookcloth, it is one sided, in this case with a lightweight paper reverse, so it can be mounted onto board to form a casebound cover or slipcase ...and as you can see from the images above and below, it works just perfectly.

The 32pp text is digitally printed on Pergraphica, High White Smooth 150gsm on an HP Indigo press and is layflat bound, as you can see from the image below...

It looks just perfect.

I must show more about the amazing result on the Flaxprint 74lb cover...

It really is an amazing product. As far as I am aware this is the only genuine bookcloth (as opposed to paper) which is litho printable and also digitally printable (dry toner) offering such amazing versatility. Having the ability to print an image and solid colours on a casebound book on a genuine cloth, rather than a paper alternative, offers a huge range of possibilities.

The fantastic quality of the digital reproduction on this genuine cloth is really impressive...

Regular followers of this blog will know that my first post of every month is a "job from the past" so that I can show some of the really good work from years gone by...

Polo Ralph Lauren 2009

As part of their internal communications programme, Polo Ralph Lauren commissioned the Pink Group to create bespoke procedure manuals that could be rolled out to all their factory outlet stores across Europe. There were two manuals, each being produced as ring binders so they could be easily updated.

At Fenner Paper we do a very unusual product called Flaxprint Litho Printable Bookcloth. It is a genuine bookcloth which is litho printable. The cover is printed conventional offset litho in CMYK with a blue (Pantone 289) being printed as a special. Like all bookcloth, it is one sided, in this case with a lightweight paper reverse, so it can be mounted onto board to form a casebound cover or slipcase ...and as you can see, it works just perectly.

The size of each binder is 310x255, portrait with a 50mm spine width. Each manual was translated into five languages and features easily updatable tabbed inserts. The covers are also hot foil blocked with a clear foil as you can see from the below image:

My|Your|Our Spitalfields - 2004

Bostock and Pollitt designed the identity and marketing material for the Spitalfields retail development in London. The resulting identity keeps the name of the area, in combination with the strapline My|Your|Our Spitalfields. The project incorporated hoardings and literature, including this brochure.



The design of the brochure and identity is heavily influenced by the Huguenot silk weaving community, who were immigrants to the area after their exodus from France and their cultural influences had a profound impact on the area which is still evident in the locality today.

As you will be able to see from the image, the design is based on a sewn/cloth/cross-stitch feel. The binding is 'side-sewn' with a red thread, which compliments the design beautifully. Size of the brochure is 245x175mm, portrait with a 36pp text. 

The remarkable feature of this brochure is the cover. Ideally a cloth feel was required on the cover and the designer didn't want to use a linen embossed paper which would have a 'faux' feel. So they looked at bookcloths, however that would have meant only a limited number of processes could be used (silkscreen/foil etc). Readers may not be aware but we, at Fenner Paper, do a very unusual product called Flaxprint Litho Printable Bookcloth. It is a genuine bookcloth which is litho printable. This cover is printed offset litho in CMYK with the 'sand' colour being printed as a special. However, a bookcloth is only one sided, usually with a paper reverse, so it can be mounted onto board to form a casebound cover or slipcase. Because this is a limp bound publication with a soft cover, the solution was to duplex the Flaxprint , back to back, so the 'cloth' appears on both the outside and inside covers. The result looks and feels absolutely amazing.

Flaxprint 74lb cover, really is an amazing product. As far as I am aware this is the only genuine bookcloth (as opposed to paper) which is litho printable and offers amazing versatility. Having the ability to print an image and solid colours on a casebound book on a genuine cloth, rather than a paper alternative, offers a huge range of possibilities. In comparison with paper, a cloth is virtually indestructable! ...which is why it has been used in bookbiding for hundreds of years, The below image shows the close detail of the weave and print detail.
