CIA Calendar 2014

Mind of a child, Eye of an Artist
This is the lovely 2014 desk calendar produced by the Central Illustration Agency (CIA). In September, a team of CIA illustrators held a children's workshop at the V&A Museum of Childhood in London. During the workshop each child was asked what they imagined the future might look like. These thoughts were then turned into briefs and sent out to their international network of illustrators!

A few weeks later, forty of those artists had created illustrative interpretations of those children’s thoughts and on 12th October they returned to the museum. Alongside those exhibited images, a dozen CIA illustrators took to the stage and created giant live artworks, accompanied by the children who had dreamt up those artists’ briefs and very much beholden to their unequivocal art direction.

During an extraordinary project, a child’s vision was realised by a professional artist and the results are presented on this lovely calendar

The 140mm square calendar is printed on Omnia Natural 120gsm, chosen so that it would have an uncoated look and feel but reproduce the wide and diverse illustrations superbly. The "tent card" (which is the commonly used term for the supporting cardboard frame) is made from a sturdy sheet of Trojan Whiteback 510gsm (below pic):
Production of the calendar was handled by Charlotte Hanlon. Printing and finishing is by L&S Printing based in Worthing, West Sussex.

CIA Calendar 2012

This is an excellent 2012 desk calendar produced by the Central Illustration Agency (CIA). There are 52 illustrations (one per week) and all the illustrations all relate to this year's Olympian theme "The Alternative Games..."
Unusually for a desk calendar, the front sheet is actually a folded poster, printed on Offenbach Bible 60gsm. The Size of the calendar is 140mm square - the poster folds out to 420x560mm
The poster design is by Jonas Bergstrand.

...and now for the calendar itself:

CIA Calendar 2011

This is a really lovely desk calendar produced by the Central Illustration Agency (CIA). There are 52 illustrations (one per week) and all the illustrations all relate to this years theme "If I were..."

The job is printed in four colours (CMYK) but it's been produced very well given the vibrant reproduction achieved. The cover is printed with a fluorescent pink and is Lasercut on our Astralux [1 sided] 250gsm and is designed by Kai and Sunny.
The 140mm square calendar is printed on our, 100% recycled, Colorset Light Grey 120gsm and the "tent card" (which is the commonly used term for the supporting cardboard frame) is made from a sturdy sheet of Trojan Whiteback 510gsm (below pic):
Production (at the CIA) was dealt with by the lovely Jules Beazley. Design is by Staziker Jones and print is by Hartleywilprint based in Wales.

An ACE Calendar...

This is a really lovely desk calendar produced by the Central Illustration Agency (CIA). There are 52 illustrations (one per week) and all the illustrations have a "ace" theme.

The job is unusual because although it's printed in four colours, they are four specials as opposed to being normal CMYK. This calendar is printed using a dark blue, and fluoro pink, lime and yellow - with excellent results.

The cover is also hot foil blocked in a white gloss foil - v.nice.
The calendar is printed on our, 100% recycled, Colorset Light Grey 120gsm and the "tent card" (which is the commonly used term for the supporting cardboard frame) is made from a sturdy sheet of Trojan Whiteback 510gsm.The size of the job is 140mm square.

Production (at the CIA) was dealt with by the lovely Jules Beazley. Design is by Staziker Jones and print is by Hartleywilprint based in Wales.
