Private Somm was set up by Nicolas and Sophie to connect wine drinkers to sommeliers. They offer the knowledge, experience and expertise of their friends and colleagues in the industry to recommend some wonderful, hand-made, well-crafted wines, all despatched by a seamless delivery service.

These A6, Landscape promotional cards are printed on Crush Grape 350gsm, which is manufactured using 15% residues from the processing of grapes, combined with 40% post consumer waste and FSC virgin fibres. You can read more about Crush HERE.

The cards have been digitally printed by Healeys printers. For those that are unfamiliar with Crush, you can see the the detail image below, where you can see the specs and imperfections which are the characteristic of using this natural supplement...

Cards - Made by Shannon

One of the great pleasures I have doing this job is receiving lovely things in the post and last week, I received a lovely selection of cards from Made by Shannon...

This greeting card publishers is run by a lovely lady called Shannon and they are based in Surrey. The below card is printed on our CRUSH Grape 250gsm

Above is a more detailed image and hopefully you can see the small specs and inclusions in the paper. Crush is made partly using the residue from the industrial processing of agro-industrial "end of life" products replacing up to 15% of conventional tree pulp. The 15% process residues are combined with 40% recycled fibres (post consumer waste) and the remainder is FSC virgin pulp and the product is FSC certified. The range is produced using green energy and is carbon balanced at the mill gate (we can also supply the paper in the UK, certified as carbon balanced)

The A6 cards are printed and hot foil blocked in-house, where they have letterpress and a 1980's hot foil blocker which is used on cards and envelopes. However, they also sometimes just hand apply gold leaf as you can in the small embellishment below.

The above SIXTEEN TODAY card is printed on our Colorset Storm 270gsm. The beautifully hot foiled envelopes are made using Colorset Storm 120gsm.

Atelier Augé - Moon Daisy

This is one of collection of new range of greeting cards produced by Bath based artist Lucy Augé. Known for producing large bodies of life work, her collections are exhibited internationally and Lucy is attracting a loyal following. This new collection of cards is from her Botantical archive and is based on her own exhibition invites which proved extremely popular.

The 4pp cards are 148x105mm (A6) portrait and this card is printed on our Crush Grape 350gsm from Favini. Crush Grape contains 15% residues from the processing of grapes for wine and food combined with 30% post-consumer recycled waste and FSC certified virgin fibre. The paper is produced with 100% green energy.

The cards are beautifully and simply printed in just one colour and using Letterpress resulting in a slight indentation giving the cards a tactile and engaging feel. You can just see a little of what I mean in the detail image below...

The cards are printed Letterpress by Opal Print based just outside Bath and below you can see the letterpress printing plate together with the inking rollers on the press.

Introducing new Crush Grape

Many of you will know about our lovely range called CRUSH from Favini. The paper is made partly using the residue from the industrial processing of crushed citrus fruit, coffee, nuts, olives, kiwi, corn, lavender and cherries. These agro-industrial "end of life" products replace up to 15% of conventional tree pulp. The range is available in 100, 120, 250 and 350gsm and the shades are natural, earthy tones and the feel of the paper is natural and tactile. We originally launched the range in 2013 and there have already been additions to the range last year.

Favini has recently been working with champagne house Veuve Clicquot to develop a range of packaging using the left over grape residues from the production of their champagne, which has resulted in this new Veuve Clicquot packaging, Naturally Clicquot.

The packaging won the Formes De Luxe prize at the Luxepack exhibition in Monaco last September and you can read about the project HERE:

"Every year this prestigious prize is awarded to the most innovative and creative packaging and is selected from a group containing the best internationally renowned companies. Naturally Clicquot 3 comes from a creative reuse of byproducts from Veuve Clicquot’s own champagne production process. By implementing their vision to continually reduce their environmental impact, now means that after being pressed, the residue of grape skins can be used in a new way. Through Favini’s know-how in the creation of papers made of residues from agro-industrial productions, the skin is dried and then milled to become a raw material for the production of a unique ecological paper, saving 25% of virgin pulp. Favini introduced the residues into the paper production cycle, mixing them with water and natural fibres, which in turn reduces the use of cellulose from trees. Veuve Clicquot said the new Naturally Clicquot 3 packaging is a unique product that gives a new life to the production residues from one of the most renowned champagnes, whilst replacing a quarter of virgin fibre use. Moreover, in perfect harmony with this ecological paper, the graphics are printed using solvent-free paints and labels adhered with a sugarcane-based compound."

...and the good news is they have now applied their experiences to make a new addition to the CRUSH range - CRUSH Grape!
New Crush Grape, is available in the standard substances of the other products (100, 120, 250 and 350gsm) with the addition of an additional 90gsm with "wet strength" properties, making it suitable for labelling applications such as wine bottle labelling.

Crush is FSC certified, GMO free, contains 30% post-consumer recycled waste and is produced with 100% green energy. The production process and the product are protected by European patent. Including the new Grape, the range now consists of ten shades.
