Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! What could be better than showing you a superb card, produced on our Flockage Colours...
In fairness, this card was produced a couple of years ago by Blue Eyed Sun, so it's not now currently available, however it really is a beautifully luxurious card.

For those of you which are not familiar with this product, it is a flocked board which feels like a velvety cloth/material to the touch. It also takes hot foil blocking exceptionally well as the heat, softens the fibres allowing the foil to bed down nicely in the flock.
Flockage is a one sided material - in the case of the Bright Red, it has a coloured flock face and a red coloured board reverse.
As you will be able to see from the image above, the material has been properly creased with a 'matrix' crease, forming a perfect fold. Reverse of the card, also foiled, is below.
The cards are designed and published by Blue Eyed Sun. Design is by Jo Corner. Blue Eyed Sun is an award winning greeting card company based in Brighton established nearly twenty years ago. They specialise in handmade and high end design-led cards, which are now sold around the world by some of the best know retailers including Harrods, John Lewis etc.

Joint founder and managing director Jeremy Corner is a leading figure in the greeting card world. He is instrumental within the 'Ladder Club' which helps aspiring greeting card publishers and is on the council of the Greeting Card Association (GCA). Queen's Award to Blue Eyed Sun

BLUE EYED Sun are flying the export flag for greetings cards and celebrating Her Majesty’s 90th birthday today in fine style with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise In International Trade.

The award was conferred today, Thursday, April 21, after it was announced that The Queen has been “graciously pleased to approve the Prime Minister’s recommendation” that the publishers receive the honour in recognition of their exceptional export growth over the past three years. MD Jeremy Corner and his wife Jo, the artist behind Blue Eyed Sun’s designs, have been invited to The Queen’s Reception at Buckingham Palace in July along with other Queen’s Award
winners.
Jeremy said: “We’re thrilled that the Blue Eyed Sun team have been recognised for their hard work in growing internationally with this highly prestigious and coveted award. “It’s an honour to be flying the flag for greetings cards especially in a year when the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday and will certainly be receiving many thousands of cards as part of her celebrations.”

Congratulations to Blue Eyed Sun, who have appeared on this blog before, here.
...and of course, congratulations to her Majesty on her 90th Birthday.

Hello Handsome!

Here's a cracking new range of Father's Day cards from independent greeting card publisher Blue Eyed Sun. The 'Hello Handsome' range cards are all 160mm square and are sold through the trade to card shops and retailers ...so they are in the shops now!

The cards are printed CMYK, offset litho on our Rib-Tone, 2 sided which is a natural unbleached brown 'kraft' shade with a feint rib and a 100% recycled inner board.
One of the interesting things about Rib-Tone is that although it is a brown shade, it provides a very neutral background for what is printed on it and therefore is one of the few substrates that seems obvious yet, almost becomes invisible and doesn't interfere with the design.
The cards are designed and published by Blue Eyed Sun. Design is by Jo Corner. The cards are printed by Graphite Creative who are based in St Albans.

Blue Eyed Sun is an award winning greeting card company based in Brighton established fifteen years ago. They specialise in handmade and high end design-led cards, which are now sold around the world by some of the best know retailers including Harrods, John Lewis etc.
