Hatch Interiors - Lyon Square

Hatch Interiors is a company which specialises in interiors and furniture for landlords and serves the rental market. London agency 400 to created the Hatch Interiors brand identity a few years ago and this piece of collateral is for a development in Harrow called Lyon Square.
The finished size is 210x118mm and the format is a 12pp roll fold, which folds out to 210x700mm. Hopefully you can see the way it works from the 'birds eye' picture below:
It is printed on our Marazion Ultra 170gsm, chosen because of it's good bulk and printability. At 170gsm it is around 190microns thick, which takes a crease really well but would still fold out well and not feel too rigid - there's always a danger with roll folds in particular that they become too clunky if the weight is too heavy.

It is printed offset litho in CMYK and hot foil blocked with a black gloss foil on the front cover.
To effectively demonstrate the way it works, the pictures below, show how it rolls out page by page...

Below shows it fully folded out to the 700mm width
...and the below image shows the reverse side:
For readers not familiar with Marazion Ultra, it's a fully coated paper but it really does have a dead flat MATT surface. There are many papers on the market which profess to be matt (and some which incorporate the word matt in the name, but aren't!) ...but this really is - and if you don't believe me, please ask for a sample!

You can see from the detail shot below, that the reproduction of the interiors is excellent:
Below is a detail showing the hot foil blocking in a gloss black foil on the front cover.

Working at RBB

RBB Economics is a specialist in the field of economics of competition law. Attracting and employing the best post-graduate level employees is essential to their business. This piece of literature is designed to inform and attract potential candidates to the business.
The size is A5, portrait and is saddle stitched with a 20pp text. This brochure cleverly works by neatly dividing itself into two, the introduction and Insights It is made around a 4pp cover with a flap on the inside back cover and the cover is cut 20mm short, the first 8pp of text is cut 10mm short and printed with a green band and the Insights section, which is printed solid grey is the full width of A5

This clever format enables the content to be separated, the more formal text of the introduction with the more informal 'insight' section with images and quotes. Very effective. The below image shows the short pages:
The cover is printed on our StarFine White 350gsm, which is an uncoated text and cover range. The cover is printed two specials (grey and green). Text is printed on our Marazion Ultra 135gsm and is printed in CMYK throughout Marazion Ultra was chosen because of it's matt flatness. Marazion Ultra is a simple but effective choice of materials. This project has a lovely engaging feel, the combination of uncoated and coated materials being just right.
Birdseye view showing the short cover, text and flap on inside back cover ....
The below image shows the card inserted in the flap at the back of the brochure showing the global locations. Also printed on StarFine White 350gsm.

Hatch Interiors

Hatch Interiors is a company which specialises in interiors and furniture for landlords and serves the rental market. Established over 15 years ago, Hatch commissioned London agency 400 to create a new Hatch Interiors brand identity. This brochure is their first piece of print with the new identity and forms a key part of their new suite of marketing materials.
David Coates, designer on the project at 400, wrote the following words: 'Hatch wanted their new brochure to demonstrate a confidence, elegance and sophistication that truly reflects the values of the company and the products and services that they provide. 400 therefore used a combination of Starfine and Marazion Ultra papers, with fore-shortened pages for the inside spreads and a black foil blocked cover to give the identity and brochure the desired impact.'

Size of the brochure is 210x148mm (A5 portrait) and is saddle stitched.
As you can see from the 'birds eye' picture above, the brochure has five short pages which allow text information to interact and overlay the photography of the interiors.
There is a 4pp cover on a dark grey board from that other Hull based, paper merchant! The text is 16pp on Marazion Ultra 150gsm combined with 12pp on StarFine Natural 115gsm - most of which are short pages, except one (below). The Marazion Ultra is printed offset litho in CMYK and the StarFine Natural is printed Offset litho in just one special pantone grey.

It is a beautiful project with lovely well considered production values which give the publication a confident quality. Nice touches, such as the black wire used for the saddle stitching, works superbly with the hot foil blocked cover with a gloss black foil.
Art direction and design is by Hatton Garden based consultancy, 400. Creative Director is Paul Dennis, designer on the project is David Coates.

Print and finishing is by London printer Push.

RBB|Economics - Corporate Brochure

This is the corporate brochure for RBB Economics, a specialist in the field of economics of competition law. This piece of literature demonstrates the company's abilities using a combination of essential facts and figures together with client testimonials.

The size is 232x165mm, portrait. and is singer sewn. It has an 8pp cover and a 16pp text. The cover is printed on our StarFine White 300gsm, which is an uncoated text and cover range. The cover is printed in two specials (blue and green) and the type is blind embossed. Text is printed on our Marazion Ultra 135gsm and is printed offset litho in CMYK plus two specials.
The below picture shows the front cover which is 'blind embossed' and shows the singer sewing with the light green thread. The brochure has an engaging feel, the singer sewing making it feel special with the combination of uncoated and coated materials working well with the content. it's also worth mentioning that the large areas of blue solid has been well printed and looks great which is both testament to the quality of the printing and the papers used (for those not in the know, blue is generally regarded as the hardest colour to print and can be a test to a printer and if the paper isn't up to the job, the result can looked mottled and patchy).
Art direction and design is by Hatton Garden based consultancy, 400. Creative Director is Paul Dennis, designer on the project is Liam Bonar. Print and finishing is by London printer Push.

THxJ

Further to our open evening at the St Bride Foundation last week, I received a really lovely thank you note(s) from David Coates and Paul Dennis at Clerkenwell design agency 400.
It was great that you had a good time and I'm touched with the thought, originality, type and ink that went into the note ...and printed on three colours of our new CRUSH range!
