Call of the Wild

As Christmas draws closer, here are some wonderful examples of Christmas cards, all printed on our lovely Shiro Echo, Bright White 300gsm,  which is 100% recycled and has FSC Mix accreditation.
The cards are from a range called "Call of the Wild" by London based card publisher Roger La Borde. They are 4pp cards printed offset litho in four colours and the cards are either laser cut or embellished with hot foil blocking.

The below lasercut cards are illustrated by Antoana Oreski
The below card is illustrated by Jane Ray and is embellished with gold hot foil blocking in the illustration which works brilliantly well.
...credits on the reverse of the card showing the FSC logo.
The cards are published by Roger la Borde.

The cards are printed offset litho by Lion House Press who are in West London and the foiling is by Graphite Creative who are based in St Albans. The lasercutting is by Trilogy Lasercraft.

Rob Ryan 2015

Rob Ryan's work is no stranger to this blog and many readers will be familiar with his work. His studio is based in East London, but his work is in demand all over the globe. He has even taken part in an exhibition with other papercut artists shown in Grand Central station in New York.

Rob's 2015 calendar incorporates one of his characteristic papercut designs which has been beautifully lasercut on our Colorset 100% Recycled board.

This desk calendar is a very clever construction which arrives flat and pops up showing the lasercut image.
It arrives folded but the flat size is 475x127mm. When this is folded and constructed using the double sided glue strip, it stands 210mm tall.
Above, shows the calendar lying out flat, the image below shows it folded to go out in the post. The calendar is printed in one colour, offset litho onto our Colorset Lime 270gsm.
Below shows the detail of the papercut.
The Lasercutting is by Trilogy Lasercraft in Huntingdon - fantastic job. Print is by Victoire based in Cambridge.

Jobs from the past - Number 10

Regular followers will know that my first post of every month is a "job from the past" so that I can show some of the really good work from years gone by and here's one from five years ago.

Creativity Revealed 2005-2006

This is a very simple yet effective piece of work produced for Unilever, sponsors of the Rachel Whiteread installation in the Turbine hall "EMBANKMENT"
These pieces were for the invitation (which I haven't got anymore!) and the welcome booklets, menus and place name cards for the sponsors dinner and evening.

The Menu is 100mm square and the welcome booklet 105x80mm. The unusual thing is that the covers are produced using a corrugated kraft e-flute material and the idea was to laser cut the material to give the job an architectural/constructed feel. I spoke with the lasercutters and they had never used a corrugated board before and doubted that it would work but they were more than prepared to give it a go! I sent samples and as you can see it worked exceptionally well.
The booklets only had a 4pp text which produced on our translucent material, Virtual Candy, white in 110gsm. Because of the "crushability" of corrugated we decided to bind using three hole sewing with a magenta thread which matched the print on the inside.
Production design was by Steve Baynes at 3 Sixteen. Lasercutting was by Trilogy Lasercraft in Huntingdon.
