HUMAN \

Graphic artist, print-maker and designer Anthony Burrill, has paired with Rosie GarcÍa founder of HUMAN \ to create these original and limited edition letterpress prints.
The HUMAN TOGETHER, TOGETHER HUMAN prints are an exclusive run with 100% of the profit going to Young Minds Mental Health Charity.

In 2017 Rosie GarcÍa founded HUMAN \ to promote the conversation around Mental Health Awareness. HUMAN \ works with artists to create limited edition pieces and bespoke garments, while donating part of every sale to Young Minds Mental Health Charity.
Anthony has made a reputation in the design world by using bold text-based compositions to convey meaningful and persuasive messaging. Having met in 2018 while working on another project to raise money for Shelter, the pair struck up a friendship.
Anthony spent a day guiding Rosie through the process and precision of letterpress printing at the well-known Adam’s of Rye, along with Ian and Derek who set and printed the wood type prints using traditional letterpress techniques.
...and here's a plug for the paper!
The prints are printed onto our new shade, Colorset Blush 270gsm and they look superb...

Colorset recycled paper gets recycled!

Here's a truly recycled story that's been recyled again...

A couple of years ago, London design company No Days Off printed their stationery and posters on our Colorset White (100% Recycled) 120 & 270gsm. It even appeared on one of my early posts:
http://justinsamazingworldatfennerpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/no-days-off.html

Having just moved to a new studio last year, London-based No Days Off needed to get new stationery printed. Being designers, they naturally saw an opportunity to refresh their own identity. But what to do with all the redundant old business cards and letterheads? Recycle them, of course...

Patrick Duffy from No Days Off explains...
"We wondered whether we might be able to do something a bit more interesting than just sticking [the old stationery] in the recycle bin and buying in a load of new paper - In our minds, the simplest thing to do was to just pulp all this old paper and make it into new paper, and then print our new stationery on that," Duffy continues. "Direct recycling, cutting out the middle-man. Easy, we thought...

"It all seemed pretty abvious to us, but like all seemingly simple ideas, it proved to be less than straightforward. Most of the people we approached said they couldn’t do it. But then Justin at Fenner put us on to Jim Patterson of Two Rivers Paper, and all our paper pulping prayers were answered"

and even better than that, they even made a video of the paper being pulped and made at the Frogmore Paper Mill in Hemel Hempstead (by James Boughen). I urge you to have a look as it's great although due to my own technical ineptitude, I can't seem to embed the clip in this blog E blogger doesn't seem to like vimeo!)

Letterpress printing is by Adams of Rye.

It's worth pointing out that as a result of this great idea, we didn't get an order for any paper, but hey, it's still a lovely story....

Anthony Burrill Poster

I've written before about the "DO" lectures - an organisation started by David Hieatt, one of the founders of Howies - see previous post: http://justinsamazingworldatfennerpaper.blogspot.com/2009/07/do-lectures.html
Below is a lovely promo poster designed by Anthony Burrill which is being sold to raise funds for the organisation, which held it's first US gathering, this year.

The poster has been printed using woodblock type in a limited edition of 150 copies. Size is 510x760mm - that's 20 x 30 inches or Double Crown in "old money"! Printed letterpress in two colours on our Colorset Solar 120gsm (100% recycled).
The posters are printed by Adams of Rye, which is one of the few places that prints letterpress using woodblock and cast metal type. The company has been used by Anthony Burrill and other artists extensively, they've even recently printed for Turner Prize winning Artist Fiona Banner

Adams of Rye is run by Ian and Derek and as they have no website, here are their details:
