Today is the hottest day ever in the UK apparently, so here is some hot news!

Harvey Lloyd Screenprint is a silkscreen print studio based in the South East of England and their work has appeared on this blog many times over the years. Established 40 years ago, they produce work for some of the best names in the industry, Harvey Lloyd have gained a reputation for having artists at their studio and working together to produce their artworks.

At the end of last year, Harvey Lloyd Screens printed three Limited editions for Orla Kiely - within 2 hours of launching the print, it sold out!

This image 'Colour Block Stem' is printed silkscreen in 4 colours and is printed on our 100% recycled Creative Print Champagne 270gsm...

Size is 297x420mm (A3)

The prints are produced in an edition of 100 copies. and have been beautifully printed by Harvey Lloyd Screenprint, who are based in Wadhurst, East Sussex.

Orla Kiely - Colour Block Stem

This is a limited edition print designed by Orla Kiely titled 'Colour Block Stem' and these pictures were kindly taken by Harvey Lloyd Screens during the printing.

They are beautifully silkscreen printed in four colours on our Creative Print, Champagne which is 100% recycled.

They were printed last month and went on sale last week. Within 2 hours of launching the print last week, the edition sold out!

Change Everything

This show titled Change Everything, presents contemporary artists advocating for change through protest, and highlights the power of art in documenting and driving our future. Co-curated by Anthony Burrill and the depot_ in Shoreditch, the exhibition brings together artists, collectives and makers who are instigating social change through their work.

Following a pertinent year of worldwide upheaval and political unrest, the works shown encapsulate the ability of protest art to shift the narrative and capture the potential of a collective moment. Working with charity partner Music Declares Emergency, and incorporating a month-long events programme, the exhibition hopes to itself become a catalyst for change and conversation.

The exhibition exhibits original, limited editioned, new and archived works in textile, prints and photography. All works are for sale and parts of profits are donated to charity partner Music Declares Emergency, alongside other charities where relevant. 

The Private view was yesterday evening 

It was great to venture out and about to what was my first foray to a private view since the Covid crisis.

Lockdown Lion

The work of  British graphic artist and illustrator, Adrian Johnson has appeared before on this blog but this is a new print titled 'Lockdown Lion'.

Adrian now lives and works in Copenhagen and his work is known for his economical, highly crafted graphic work and his working process all derives from obsessively drawing and re-drawing on paper, breaking down ideas and concepts into their purest form.

Size of the prints is 700 x 500mm, portrait. They are five colour screen prints and are printed on our Matrisse 250gsm. Matrisse is a tactile uncoated white board with a high bulk and is perfect for silkscreen work.

New Sarah Boris artworks

Some news, hot off the press today...

There are two new prints which are the result of their collaboration with artist and graphic designer Sarah Boris, One Step and Clover and here they are being printed...

Clover is printed in 4 colours and One step is printed in 3 colours. The size of both prints is 400mm square and here are the finished prints...

Harvey Lloyd - new prints, new shop...

Harvey Lloyd Screenprint is a silkscreen print studio based in the South East of England and their work has appeared on this blog many times over the years. Established 40 years ago, they produce work for some of the best names in the industry, Anthony Burrill, Mr Bingo, Spin Design, Pentagram, Tom Pigeon, Morag Myerscough, Adrian Johnson to name a few. Harvey Lloyd have gained a reputation for having artists at their studio (often with film crews) and working together to produce their images. By working interactively, they find different techniques which are developed collaboratively.

...and now, for the first time, Harvey Lloyd Screenprint have produced a series of their own prints:

Bale (pictured above and below) is produced in 3 colour ways - Fluorescent Pink, Green and yellow. The finished size is 600mm x 600mm.

The series Connect, Metropolis and Pyramid are all 400mm square

Spheres and Weave are A2 size and printed using 3 colours using an unusual technique- getting away from digital technology and back to analogue, a technique which Steve Fachiri and Tracey Day at Harvey Lloyd don't want to reveal, save telling me that the screens were created using torn paper for the stencils.

Notey or Nice?

Studio Small are a London based studio, specialising in the fashion, design and luxury sectors. Every year they produce a Christmas card, but rather than just producing a a clever card, they always produce something a little unusual and hopefully useful. This last Christmas it was this lovely notepad...

The pad is A5, size and includes 80 plain leaves (160pp) on which to write.

The cover of the pad is simply silkscreened in three colours (white ink and two fluorescents) on our Colorset, Bright Red 350gsm. The front is pictured above on the left. On the back of the pad is printed the Christmas greeting.

The pad is glued at the top - the term for this is 'glued at the head'. The text pages are using our Redeem 100% Recycled 60gsm.

The pad is bound using "Padding Glue", so the sheets can be torn off easily. The image below shows the glued head and the perfectly creased spine...

Binding is by Wayte Binding who are based in Tunbridge Wells.

Design is by Darcy Ward at Studio Small. The covers have been beautifully printed by Harvey Lloyd Screenprint, who are based in Wadhurst, East Sussex. It is worth having a look at their website for some of the great work they do for the likes of Anthony Burrill and Mr Bingo.

Build by Tom Pigeon

Tom Pigeon is a creative studio founded by Pete and Kirsty Thomas in 2014. They met and started working as designers in the early 1990’s and since then have worked across design disciplines. As Tom Pigeon they design simple things for people to enjoy including prints, jewellery and stationery. 

This is a print, titled 'Build' that they have designed for Social Bite Village - a development in Edinburgh which gives homeless people somewhere to live and all the support they need to get back to work and into long-term accommodation.

All profits from this limited edition screen print inspired by the amazing space and remarkable work of Social Bite Village will be donated to the charity. ‘Build’ celebrates both the physical construction of this remarkable community and its work to encourage new and positive futures for its homeless residents.

The size of each print is A2 (594x420mm) and is hand-pulled using waterbased inks at Harvey Lloyd Screenprinting and is a limited edition of 100 signed, numbered and embossed prints. Below show the detail of the embossing...

Printed in three colours on our Matrisse 200gsm which we donated for this project. It is beautifully printed with fantastic register and detail as you can see from the image below...

She Lights up the Night

She Lights up the Night is an exhibition coinciding with International Women’s Day, in aid of women’s charity Refuge. Established by founder of They Made This and BBH production director Aine Donovan, it is a graphic art exhibition, where prints are available to buy and ultimately the work is sold to raise funds.

Refuge is a national charity which provides a wide range of specialist services to support women and children experiencing domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence. On any given day their services support almost 5,000 women and children.

The exhibition was opened with a private view last Thursday evening at the Protein Gallery.

Some of the featured artists are Jean Julien, Jon Burgerman, Hattie Stewart, Siggi Eggertsson, Kindah Khalidy, Crispin Finn, Steve Wilson, Mike Perry, Daisy Emerson, Lauren Baker, Hannah Waldron, Olivia Healy, Poul Webb, Letman, Rude, Hense.

The silkscreen prints which were all on sale on the evening are printed by Harvey Lloyd Screenprint. All the print was donated to the charity and we also supplied our lovely Matrisse 200gsm free of charge to support the project.
