Fitriani

This is a simple but beautifully produced piece of literature for luxury Knighstbridge womenswear boutique Fitriani.

It's a 6pp A5, portrait, concertina piece, produced for the press to show their range called "Petal". Art direction and photography is superb. The Fitriani logotype is hot foil blocked in matt black foil on the front cover. It is printed on Omnia 280gsm which allows the detail of these limited edition dresses to be seen and look stunning.

Design and Art Direction is by Dalziel+Pow. They were approached to refresh the store environment and create photographic campaigns for 2011 and this publication is just part of the brand repositioning. Designer on the project is Ashley Hodges.

The piece was printed by Team Impression in Leeds. Although this is a simple piece, it's often the simple jobs which don't get the attention to detail. This is well creased, folded square which is just perfect.

...and thanks to Simon Bucktrout at Team for sending through the file copies.

Adidas Women Techfit SS11

This is an interesting and different piece which uses unusual materials and format. This lookbook was the result of an interesting project where their new generation of TechFit (TM) garments were developed with female athletes but also teamed up with the Staatsballet in Berlin, who have been testing this apparel since 2009 and that formed the focus and subject for this new lookbook.
In keeping with the lightweight nature of the actual garments, the material chosen for the 36pp text is our lightweight Offenbach Bible 60gsm. Interestingly the piece is a self cover but it has a 6pp insert printed in litho silver on black board, saddle stitched in the middle which protrudes 20mm at the top (with the title) - see right and below - and which holds a disc - interesting stuff, actually having the cover, effectively in the middle not on the outside!

Design is by Made Thought and photography by Ben Ingham.
Print was handled by Team Impression and they have made a lovely job of it, right down to the black wire on the saddle stitches - very nice.
...and thank you to Simon Bucktrout at Team for sending me a copy.

Craven College Prospectus

This is a really great piece of literature for Craven College. It's a quality prospectus with great photography and fantastic reproduction.

Size is 200x265mm. It has a 4pp cover and 152pp text and it also has a 8pp printed 'dustjacket' which gives this publication a really high quality feel.
Design is by Leads Design (a division of L&K based in Leeds). Creative Director on the project was Lee Goater. Photography is by Kerry Harrison and Richard Moran.

It is produced on a paper that we supply on an 'ex-mill' basis. For those of you that haven't come across this expression before, it means that it's not a stock paper but is one that is offered to come direct from the paper mill straight to the printer. Often the paper is made to exactly the right size for the particular project. The paper supplied for this prospectus is an economical uncoated text and cover paper called TRUE FSC. It is 115gsm with a 300gsm cover. This paper was chosen to fit in with the budget and the environmental criteria.
The job was superbly printed by Team Impression. Four colour work and solids are superb.

...and thanks to Lee for the lovely note.

Charlotte Building W1

This is a lovely example of a casebound book with a paper over board (hardback) cover.

The book was comissioned by property developers Derwent PLC. Design is by Made Thought.

As you will see from the spreads below they have used white mannequins in the empty buildings to great effect. Art direction is superb. Sorry I don't know who the photographer is. The black foil blocking on the cover is very effective.

Size of the book is 210x260mm with a 36pp text.

The book is produced using our Omnia 150gsm which gives it easily enough bulk for a 8mm spine (which you really need for a casebound book). This project has had a heavy "sealer" varnish put all over the sheet which gives it an unusual reflective, slightly pearlescent, finish as opposed to the normal flat, matt tactile finish that Omnia has - an unusual treatment which is effective with the images used in this job.

The job was printed by Team Impression based in Leeds and thank you to Simon Bucktrout for sending us a copy.
