Zeta - Stationery Papers

The ZETA range of business papers has been around for decades and should need no introduction. For many years it has been the gold standard for stationery papers in Europe, with it's excellent availability in all European countries and Fenner Paper became the UK stockist in 2015. The range has now been refreshed with the addition of a new Laid finish and new shades, including Diamond White, which is now presented in a new swatch designed by Wolfgang Forsch, who has handled the re-brand.

The new swatch is DIN A4 size, portrait format and is a 6pp gatefold. The cover is printed on Zeta Linen, Brilliant 350gsm and is printed in black plus a fluorescent orange.
The swatch shows the new stock range together with all the weights, surfaces and colours...
These fine papers are manufactured at the Reflex Paper mill in the town of Düren in Germany, which was founded in 1857 and the mill also produces transparent papers, label papers and artists papers. All ZETA products are made from Chlorine Free pulp (ECF) and carry the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.

Reconstruction

...just the cover makes the difference!

Here's an interesting project which is well worth a look, because of the interesting design concept and the way the cover is used to add to the quality and feel of the whole project.

This 48pp guide was produced to accompany an international touring exhibition called Reconstruction: Cultural Heritage and Making of Contemporary Fashion. This exhibition is touring around the world and is funded by the British Council.
Size of the publication is 210x130mm, portrait. The 48pp text is printed on a 130gsm printers "house silk" which, as you can see from the image below, is perfectly acceptable and the economical choice.
The cover however, is what really makes the difference to this publication. It is printed on ZETA, Linen, white 150gsm and I hope you'll be able to see the embossed linen texture in the image below...

The exhibition was designed by Pippa Nissen and design studio Kellenberger-White, who produced the literature. A really interesting aspect is that Kellenberger-White also developed a new typeface in response to the theme of the exhibition. The typeface is based on an observation by Alan Fletcher who spotted a modular grid on the reverse of a Russian Post Office envelope. Kellenberger-White drew a new alphabet originating from that grid, which was previously only drawn for numbers.

The grid is reproduced on the outside back cover of the catalogue....
...and of course the use of a linen embossed paper is perfectly in keeping with the "grid" concept and makes the catalogue look and feel very special.

Inside back spread:
A very interesting project and you can read more here: http://kellenberger-white.com/project/reconstruction/

Creative directors at Kellenberger-White are Eva Kellenberger
and Sebastian White.

Gem Cards from Stooshie Design

Here is a project brought to you from my colleague Sarah Glennie...

Stooshie Design is a boutique greeting card publisher making high quality gem cards. The creative director and founder is Linda Carlin and they are based in the beautiful North Ayrshire countryside in Scotland.
The size of the cards is 125mm square and they are printed in CMYK on the outside with the inside left plain, so you can write your own greeting. The gems are then applied by hand after printing.
This new range of cards is printed on our ZETA Linen, Brilliant 350gsm and if you click on the images below, you'll just see the subtle linen texture....

The beautifully simple text and pricing details are on the reverse of the card.
Stooshie print and finish the cards all in house and you can read more about them here:

Daiwa Foundation - Art Prize

The Daiwa Foundation is based in Japan House in London and was opened in 1994 as a centre for academic and cultural activities relating to Japan. This Anglo-Japanese Foundation holds an events programme which plays an important role in increasing the understanding of Japan in Britain, providing a forum for discussion and exchange and creates opportunities to foster new networks and collaborations.
The foundation also runs an Anglo-Japanese arts competition every three years, for which there is a prize awarded. Entries are open to British artists resident in the UK who have not previously had a solo exhibition in Japan. Last year the winner was Oliver Beer, who was shortlisted alongside Mikhail Karikis and Julie Brook.
This is the literature that accompanied the awarding of the prize at the private view last year. Size is 170x240mm. The 8pp cover is hot foil blocked in a metallic gold foil and uses ZETA Linen, Brilliant White 260gsm.
The 16pp text is printed on our Omnia 150gsm, which works perfectly. The reason this paper was chosen is because the different artists are working in a wide range of different media and this paper works brilliantly, feeling tactile, whether reproducing illustration, photographic work or colour saturated solid colours.
Interspersed in the text pages are another 8pp of translucent pages - printed on T2000 110gsm, which is one of our 'tracing' type papers from Reflex Paper in Germany (the same mill that manufactures ZETA)
The image above and below show the T2000 overlaying the text pages...
The use of ZETA Linen on the cover is faultless, resulting in a consummate cover - the perfect solution for a publication featuring the work of three artists, The subtle Linen embossing works with the matchless hot foiling giving an immaculate result, which I hope you can see in the image below.
Design is by Matthew Stroud.
Print production is by Jigsaw Colour based in Bermondsey, London.

Fenner Paper 2016 Diary

If you are a wonderful customer and therefore a deserving user of our papers, you should have already received your new 2016 diary in the post, here's a sneak preview, if you haven't yet received it.
As in previous years, the diary is 230x162mm, portrait and retains the popular 'month to view' format. The cover board is printed offset in just one colour on our new Zanders Zeta Linen 270gsm.

The 40pp text is simply printed in one colour, offset litho, on our lovely Redeem 100% Recycled 60gsm, which has a superb opacity and a good writing surface making this an ideal paper for a diary or notebook.

The 'tent' calendar is printed on Zanders Zeta Hammer 270gsm and should be a useful addition to any desk! Our thanks go to the Reflex Paper Mill for supplying us with the material for the diary cover and calendar.

If you aren't a user of our papers and just fancy one anyway! ...they are available for purchase, just e-mail me for prices.

New ZANDERS ZETA swatch

The ZANDERS ZETA range should need no introduction - it is Europe's market leading paper for business. As regular readers of this blog will know, following the abrupt closure of the PaperlinX group (Robert Horne, Howard Smith and PaperCo) earlier this year, Fenner Paper took over UK distribution for the Zanders Zeta range.

We now have a lovely new swatch (230mm square) which shows the entire mill range:
5 COLOURS - 5 SURFACES - 7 WEIGHTS

If you would like one of the new swatches, please email me: justin@fennerpaper.co.uk
The below picture shows the swatch open which has colour and embossing chips together with a waterfall of papers in each of the weights...
Like most prestigious letterhead papers, there is a watermark in the paper (see below), which in the case of ZETA is rather subtle. It is worth mentioning that with the ZETA range, most items are also available un-watermarked.
Zeta watermark in the Zeta Hammer Embossed finish
Below image shows the different shades and substances in the range.
There are five surface finishes in the range including Smooth and Wove and three embossed finishes in Hammer, Linen and Micro. The range encompasses whites and light shades in a wide variety of sizes and weights as well as matching envelopes in DL, C5 and C4.

ZETA can be printed using offset litho, hot foil blocking, engraving, thermography and is guaranteed up to 150gsm for laser printing, colour copying and inkjet printing.

These fine papers are manufactured at the Reflex Paper mill in the town of Düren in Germany, which was founded in 1857 and the mill also produces transparent papers, label papers and artists papers. All ZETA products are made from Chlorine Free pulp (ECF) and carry the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification

If you would like one of the new swatches, please email me: justin@fennerpaper.co.uk

Zanders Zeta now stocked by Fenner Paper

For most of you the Zanders Zeta range will need no introduction, it's Europe's market leading paper for business. Unfortunately with the abrupt closure of the Paperlinx group (Robert Horne, Howard Smith and PaperCo) there was no UK stockist - follow the link for my previous post about Paperlinx: http://justinsamazingworldatfennerpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/sad-demise-of-paperlinx-in-uk.html.

As a result of their sad demise, the mill needed a distributor for this range in the UK which has been extensively marketed over the years ...and that's where Fenner Paper comes in!
The good news is that we taken on a broad range of Zeta papers into stock, including the popular Zeta Hammer and Linen embossed finishes. Yesterday the first large stock consignment arrived by trailer, as you can see from the picture below:
Zanders Zeta is produced by the Reflex Paper mill in Düren, Germany which was founded in 1857. The mill also produces transparent papers, label papers and artists papers.

You can read more about the new arrangement in Printweek:
http://www.printweek.com/print-week/product-news/1150950/fenner-paper-now-exclusive-uk-stockist-of-zanders-zeta

You can see the current range here: http://www.zetapaper.co.uk/

BUT...
please don't throw away your old Zeta swatches as currently we don't have any available. We'll distribute new swatches when they are produced but in the meantime, at least you know where to come to get the product (in fact if you have a moment why don't you grab the Zeta swatch off the shelf and write Fenner Paper on the back - it might save you time and trouble at a later date!
