...not just a business card.

Now, it's said that a lot can be told from someone's business card and here's an identity project which makes the business card tell a story by being beautifully and cleverly interactive.

Privacy International is a human rights 'watchdog' organisation focused on privacy intrusions by government and businesses. The London based organisation has a network in 46 countries and are frequently called upon to give expert testimony to parliamentary and government committees in countries around the world including the United Nations.

The "redacted" business card is all about protecting personal information:

I certainly can't add anything to what the pictures already show - a truly brilliant piece.

The identity (including the cards) is by London based design agency, This is Real Art. Creative Director is Paul Belford and Head of Design is Martin Brown.

I should of course mention that they are printed on our lovely Avebury Recycled Wove 250gsm (50% recycled and FSC certified). Print (and perforations of course) is by Chapter Press.

Biba

Most people will be familiar with the name Biba. Starting as a mail order company in the early sixties and becoming a global fashion phenomenon by the early seventies, Biba became one of the great symbols of swinging London. Biba closed its doors in 1975 but was relaunched in September 2010 (exclusively at House of Fraser).
A lookbook for the re-launch was designed and produced by London based creative agency, Exposure.

The size of the book is 235x170mm, portrait, perfect bound. The 4pp cover is on Notturno 300gsm (a black board) and is hot foil blocked in gold on the outside cover. The 52pp test is printed on our Omnia 200gsm which, although quite heavy for text, really works because of the gilt (gold) edge which runs around the page edges (if you click on the image, you should be able to see the edge).
...and as you can see from the spreads below, the Omnia has worked amazingly well with the solid black and images:
Art Director on the project was Simon Boniface. The photography is by Leandro Farina.

Print and print production including the superb foiling and gilt edging was by Chapter Press.
It is quite simply, one of those jobs that you look at and go WOW!

Project D A/W 2011

Project D is the exciting new clothing label designed by founders Danni Minogue and her friend Tabitha Somerset-Webb whom is already an established designer. The first collection launched last year to great acclaim and the range contains pretty day dresses, cocktail chic and glamorous red-carpet-ready dresses (...you can probably tell I didn't write that last bit!) For the forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2011 collection they have produced this superb new lookbook.

The size is 170x240mm, portrait. It is made up using 32pp of our Omnia 150gsm which is just simply stunning with the images used. The cover and translucent dividers printed (and hot foil blocked on the cover) on 100gsm tracing paper (not ours - I'm waiting to find out and will hopefully add this detail in) is printed in a rich, deep red. The finishing is "singer sewn" along the spine - absolutely beautiful.

Design is by Anthony Hodgson at Face based in Pool in Wharfedale near Leeds. Printing, including the lovely hot foil blocking on the cover, is by Chapter Press. It is a beautiful piece of literature.

DAKS S/S11

Here's yet another excellent example that demonstrates the versatlity of our Offenbach Bible. A lightweight material that prints superbly well and if well printed can make any piece of literature a thing of quality and great interest.

Particular care has been taken over the print reproduction of these images. Many have subtle detail, weaves and texture which need to be seen and appreciated, so the reproduction achieved on the Offenbach Bible is of paramount importance to the sucess of this catalogue. The size is a standard A4, portrait and it's a 16pp piece with lovely white wire stiches (nice touch!)

Designer on the project is Bretton Bird working in-house at Daks. Printing, including the lovely hot foil blocking on the cover, is by Chapter Press. All in all a really lovely piece

Halo 9

This is the latest issue of Halo which is the Central St Martins magazine for business published by University of the Arts London.
Central St Martins Innovation is an interesting concept, as part of the university which works with over 300 businesses.
This magazine is an interesting read; articles about Science and Art being reunited, CSM Students working with the Paralympic GB team (narrative environments) and of course a description of the new Central St Martins 64 acre (!) campus at Kings Cross.
The magazine itself is 210x270mm, portrait, saddle stitched with a 4pp cover and a 32pp text. The cover is an uncoated offset (250gsm?) and the text is printed on our Marazion Ultra 115gsm giving the publication a substantial feel without making it feel like a brochure.
Editor is Dani Salvadori, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at CSM. Printing is by Chapter Press.
